Cornflower

Cornflower is also known as bachelor's button, or basket flower. This Cornflower variety, Black Boy, has exquisite flowers in shades of deep purple. Not only does it grow in a gracious and interweaving manner, it is also easy to cultivate. It looks especially good when paired with marigolds! Cornflower enjoys nutrient-rich and well-drained soil, although it really is not very picky. It can also be used as a dried flower. Another benefit of this flower is that it is possible to sow during late summer/autumn.

Sow sparsely in humid soil. Keep the soil moist and replant three to five plants per pot once they are big enough to handle. Store in a bright and cool environment until the weather allows for replanting outdoors.
