Organic seeds. Vegetable and herb. The swollen nodes form a tuber that can be eaten either raw or cooked. Dried seeds are used to season bread. Fennel may flower if sown too early, and will not form a “tuber”. Prefers sandy, humus-rich soils. Water well.

Sow sparsely in damp seed compost. Transplant 1 plant/pot of fertilised soil. Place in a bright, cool area. Harden off, transplant outside after the last frost. Very sensitive to frost, cover with fibre cloth.
Level soil, water before sowing. Sow in warm soil. Keep seeds moist until they germinate.
