A gluten-free and nutritious herb originating in South America. Easy to grow but somewhat sensitive to frost when flowering. Drought-resistant. Harvest when the seeds look well developed, allow to dry and shake out the seeds. This variety has a low saponin content. Rinse the seeds thoroughly before cooking and use in e.g. salads and burgers. Prefers nutrient-rich, sandy, well-drained soil that retains moisture. Water in dry periods.
