Fragrant bedding plant with large, purple-blue flower clusters. Upright growth with thick dark green leaves. Seeds must be started - it takes a while but it’s worth the effort. Prefers well-fertilised, humus-rich soils.

Sow the seeds sparsely in damp seed compost. Photoblastic, do not cover, keep soil moist. Germinates in warm (25°C) and bright spots. Only about 1/3 of the seeds germinate and this may take a while. After germination place in a bright cool area. Transplant 1 plant/pot of fertilised soil. Water and fertilise regularly. The plants are sensitive to frost.
