Wild thyme is a small, low-growing shrub. Forms wonderful fragrant mats and is a good ground cover. Flowers are pink. Dries well for winter cooking. Thrives in poor, sandy and dry soil in the sun.

Sow sparsely on damp seed compost. Cover lightly with compost. Keep moist. Place at room temperature. After sprouting plant 1 or more/pot of nutrient-poor soil, place in a bright, cool area. Harden off and transplant outside after the last frost.
Sow as soon as the soil is workable. Level soil, water before sowing. Cover the seeds very lightly with soil. Keep seeds moist until they germinate.
