Chinese lanterns are a traditional, very easy to grow sweet potted plant. The leaves resemble small maple leaves and the flowers are bell-shaped. Colours vary from red to orange to yellow. Rewarding and abundant, easy to grow from seed. Can also be sown in other seasons but needs extra light. Prune the plant several times to make it fuller. Prefers a sunny area and good soil. Requires a lot of water and nutrients.
