Turnip

A snowy white, sweet and crispy turnip. Delicious in salads or oven-roasted with other root vegetables. Fast growing, should be sown in batches so that you always have floury and tender turnips. Harvest when tender, older ones become woody and bitter in taste. Thrives in most soils, preferably clay. Like all brassicas, needs plenty of fertiliser and water. Cover with fibre cloth to avoid cabbage root fly infestations.
